Yesterday 14 people from 7 different organisations supporting play in Sheffield, from Pitsmoor to Hackenthorpe gathered at MASKK over cups of tea. This was the third ‘Connecting Through Play’ networking meeting for play practitioners hosted by Sheffield Play Partnership.

Play people are so often go-getters making things happen for their communities by making use of what they’ve got, drawing on the people power in their areas and not taking no for a answer. It was great to hear updates from all of the projects and to talk about shared concerns including levels of school exclusion and refusal, how our projects can become more inclusive and what we can do to help children and young people have more space and time to just be children.

We will be getting together seasonally, so look out for information about the Winter gathering. Any individuals or groups working or volunteering with school age children at play are welcome along – whether your working face to face with the children or stuck in the office doing the behind the scenes stuff- we’d love to see you!
