Empowering survivors of modern slavery and exploitation
Snowdrop regularly recruit volunteers who work alongside survivors of modern slavery and exploitation as they recover from their experiences and rebuild their lives.
Volunteering opportunities that may be of particular interest to our network include:
- Community Activity Volunteers: Activity Volunteers encourage social inclusion and integration by facilitating community activities and empowering individuals to learn new skills, build confidence and make friends. If you have a skill that you’d like to share such as sewing, floristry, or craft, we’d love to hear from you. Alternatively, you can provide childcare for our clients’ children, enabling them to access our services, eg. counselling.
Other volunteering opportunities with Snowdrop also include:
- Volunteer Caseworkers: Help survivors navigate their next steps, which can range from ongoing legal battles, housing, benefits, education and employment, to police investigations, reducing isolation, developing family life and wellbeing.
- Volunteer Befrienders: Provide a regular and consistent relationship of friendship with clients, aiming to reduce social isolation and loneliness.
- Renovation Volunteers: When survivors are entitled to access permanent accommodation, usually through the local authority, the properties are in need of restoration and care. We work with our client, and volunteers work as a part of a team to help with tasks like painting walls. No previous experience is necessary. Help make a house a home!
