DESCRIPTION:Discovering Play\, presented at Level One\, introduces the importance of play and Playwork along with some practical elements. This 6-week course (+ Introductory session) of 2-hour long in-person engaging sessions is a great introduction to working with children at play. Whether this is in the home\, school\, parks\, sports or community settings. \nUpon successful completion participants will be awarded an NOCN Level 1 Award in Skills for Employment\, Training and Personal Development Qualification No: 601/0948/8 \n\n\n\nIntroductory Session on Thursday 4th June\, find out more about the course\, find out if it’s the right thing for you\, whilst also getting stuck into some practical ideas for play.\n12 hours of workshops across 6 weeks (Thursdays 11th June\, 18th June\, 25th June\, 2nd July\, 9th July\, 16th July)\nSupporting documents and handouts\nAccess to range of temples and resources\n\nPlease note\, sessions will take place in the Shipton Street Main Hall situated in the hub across the road from the main Zest Centre building. \n\n\nThis course will be free to attend for those who live and work in Sheffield.

SUMMARY:Therapeutic Play - CPD Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Our Discovering Play Trainer and lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University\, Julia Sexton\, will be exploring the therapeutic value of play for children\, especially for expressing their feelings and communicating their experiences. This session aims to develop awareness of playwork\, the approach to working with children that aims to support and facilitate the play process by introducing the ideas of the therapeutic element of playwork. It will explore key aspects of Therapeutic Playwork including the role of the playworker\, playworker-child relationships and interactions\, creating environments where playing children can feel valued and safe and reflective practice.  \nThis will be taking place at the Endeavour Centre (address below) in the Upper Hall. Refreshments provided. \nFree for anyone living and working in Sheffield.
