SUMMARY:Discovering Play Level 1 at Springs Academy
DESCRIPTION:Join us this Summer for:\nOur much loved Discovering Play Level 1 training\nPLUS\nthe opportunity to gain practical experience supporting Summer Playing Out sessions for 8-15 year olds in the local area!\nAll for free thanks to funding from the East LAC.\n  \nAbout Discovering Play\nDiscovering Play introduces the importance of play and Playwork along with some practical elements. This course will include 4 3-hour long in-person engaging sessions alongside a little bit of homework and is a great introduction to working with children at play. Click here to find out more about this course.This course is suitable for people aged 16+. \nDiscovering Play aims to develop individuals skills to support the facilitation and development of good play environments where children can thrive. Whether this is in the home\, school\, parks\, sports or community settings. This course will build skills and confidence that will support people looking to volunteer or work as Playworkers\, teaching assistants\, nursary workers\, youth workers as well as bringing a new perspective to anyone working or just living with children and young people. This course will be led by the fabulous Emma Okpaleke from Manor After school and Kids Klubs (MASKK) who brings with her a wealth of experience of working with children and young people and as a trainer. \nUpon successful completion participants will be awarded an NOCN Level 1 Award in Skills for Employment\, Training and Personal Development Qualification No: 601/0948/8. \nThe training will take place at Springs Academy School\, 10:30am-1:30pm on Thurs 6th\, 13th\, 20th and 27th August.   \nPlease book to attend. If you have booked and can no longer make it\, please let us know so we can offer the place to others. \n  \nAbout gaining practical experience\n…through supported volunteering this Summer. We will be running Playing Out sessions for 8-15 year olds on Gleadless Common across the Summer. You can find out more about the sessions here. \nThese sessions will be led by the wonderful Gem Web who would love to show you the ropes of how community play provision works\, while you offer your time and attention to help these sessions be a great opportunity for local children and young people this Summer.
