SUMMARY:Loose Parts Play Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Explore the fascinating world of loose parts; a theory of how not to cheat children\, first developed by landscape architect Simon Nicholson in 1971. \nWhat do people mean when they talk about loose parts? \nIt’s been a part of playwork practice for many years\, probably since the first adventure playgrounds were established in the mid twentieth century before ‘loose parts’ had a name and a theory. \nThe popularity of loose parts is growing\, more play settings\, playschemes\, early years\, schools and other professions working with children are taking it up since recognising the benefits loose parts play has for children’s cognitive\, physical and emotional development. PLUS it’s FUN! \nThis interactive 2 hour workshop is taking place at Pitsmoor Adventure Playground. Part of the workshop will be outdoors so we ask that you wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear. \nThe workshop will cover \n\nUnderstanding the theory of loose parts\nBenefits of loose parts play for children\nBringing loose parts resources into your play environment\nThe playworker / adult role\nManaging risk
