On 17th April the Financial Times reported on the impact of the reduction of children’s space and time for play. The article highlights the stark difference in opportunities for children and young people compared to their parents and grandparents, the reduction in school playtime for children of all ages and that children now spend the majority of their playing time at home.

The opportunities for children to socialise, to get out into their communities and into nature have reduced drastically at a time when we are seeing more children struggling with dysregulation and with mental and physical health challenges.

The rights of children to play, leisure, community and culture are enshrined in the United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child.
