Dynamic Risk Assessment: H&S in play settings

Pitsmoor Adventure Playground are hosting Simon, an adventure play specialist H&S inspector from Children’s Play Advisory Service, who is himself an experienced Playworker and adventure playground manager, to talk about H&S in the context of children’s spontaneous play.

Written Risk Benefit Assessments are crucial but not everything that happens spontaneously in play can be thought through ahead of time, so Playworkers use Dynamic Risk Assessment to help them to navigate risks and hazards as they arise.

In this training session we will look at the kinds of things Playworkers are noticing as part of their Dynamic Risk Assessments and look at some case studies of risks, benefits and scenarios requiring intervention.
